my first primitive deer!!!
« on: October 27, 2007, 11:31:32 am »
hey guys just thought id post some pics of my deer i got last night! its a little button buck but im just as excited as if it had of been a big buck. i used my unbacked ash recurve i posted last winter after i finished it, and a rivercane shaft, hardwood foreshaft and a 150gr. zwickey. i think its 150 its the blue with bleeder blades. ill have to check. i wanted to use a few of the fine stone points i got from cowboy but maine has a no stone point law and i really didnt wanna get caught and get in trouble for that. sooooo thats a primitive as i could get. well actually i attempted to make my own points from the bandsaw blades from VB but i couldnt find a dremel blade to cut it! maybe you guys have some suggestions? any ways heres some pics! -white wood

Hey jesse,

Dude, that is freakin' awesome!  I've been trying for 7 #%#%$ years and still haven't gotten a deer yet.  Looks like you hit her with a perfect broadside shot, couldn't have been better.  Congrats dude, that is a hell of an accomplishment.

thanks guys im pretty excited about it! its something id been waiting so long for and it all happened so fast! definatly my most memorable hunt, and wont be my last. billy the deer was quartering away and the arrow took out the left lung and cut off one of the two tubes to the blood pump.  ;D i have to buy another tag! ill brobably hold out for a antlerd deer tho cuz i have a doe permit for rifle season. rifle started today but it was raining hardcore here!!! im hoping to take a deer with my muzzleloader. i would then have enough meat till next years season!  :D deer steaks dont last long in my freezer!  ;) -whitewood

Good shooting Whitewood. Those little ones are lots harder to hit. I should know! ::) I have yet taken a deer with my own equipment. Hopefully soon.    Pat

had some tenderloin for supper tonight and i decided i just might have to hunt little deer only! mmmmmmmmmmm  ;D  :D naw i just wanted to get  a primitive kill, i would have passed on this deer with my rifle but i just couldnt pass up the shot with my bow! just too exciting with your own equipment. besides a smaller deer is a smaller target!  ;D -whitewood
