Thanks Grady!  I'm pretty partial to em myself.  Eastern, plains, Western, Eskimo, and everything in between.  They're all cool!  Josh

Very nice! Could you tell me roughly what your limb thickness dimensions are? Thanks...I've just got to try one.

Lyle

I made it home and measured it.  It is  61" ntn,  width is  1 1/16" for the center 36" and then straight tapers to 5/8" wide tips.  The thickness at the handle is 5/8" tapering to 3/8" thick tips.  As you probably know, every piece of wood is different so these dimensions are just for reference.  In fact, I prefer 1 1/4" wide for the center section, but I had to make do on this one.  Good luck and I look forward to seeing your version.  Josh

That's a  mighty nice bow.
How high up is the arrow pass on this beauty?

That's a great advantage of bendy handled bows.  It certainly simplifies tillering.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

That's exactly right!  No fades to fight, no trying to figure out arrow pass offset, just a simple, easy to eyeball graceful arc.  It don't get no easier than that! Josh

Fantastic bow Doc (as always)! If you don't mind - could you humor me for a question I have? Is that a crack just under your bowyer's mark in the pictures? If so - can you give me a short background on how it came about (drying crack? splinter-lift?), what you did about it and why? I haven't come across it yet in the couple of bow projects I have, but I did have a drying crack form in an axe handle I recently made out of mulberry. It wasn't a huge deal, but axe handles don't bend. :)  Anyway, I was able to just scrape it down some more to remove most of the depth from the crack and finish it off. I thought about filling with some super glue mixed with sawdust like I've read on here a few times, but didn't bother.

Thanks fellas!  Where you been Ken?  It seems you been keeping a low profile for quite a while.  I kinda been missing the chance to drool over your crepe myrtle shorties!  Josh

Yep thats a drying crack.  The core of this tree was hollow and rotten so it checked from the center while the tree was still growing.  There isn't much crack left on this bow.  Mostly what your seeing is water stain in the wood as the top of the tree was open to rainfall.  If I was worried about it, I would've used the superglue and sawdust.  But this one wasn't worth bothering with.  As I said, its mostly stain.  Josh
