First try at holmegaard design
« on: February 17, 2013, 01:46:00 pm »
I think the wave threw me but this is what I got.
My bow is 54# @ 25inches
62 "tip to tip
There is 12" of non working limb at the ends

Kinda wierd tillering fade to mid limb with character.

This was practice for the tough one coming up. Its not the best but should take a deer.

The unbraced photo was taken just after tiller and has not returned yet.

Holy cow, talk about character! :o
That looks phenomenal, iowabow. My only question is how that could be practice for the tough one, I would probably have made firewood with that.

Looks like it would be better off flipped over so that the wave is the less stressed limb. The way your heel of the hand is collapsing forward seems like it would suit the other way as well.

Now if that ain't a character bow I don't know what is.  Sweet!  I had a beautifully done elm Holmegaard that I bought last year off a guy and sold like a dummy before I realized what a nice bow I had, as I didn't know much about selfbows a the time.  One of my favorite designs and looks like you made a super cool one.

Thanks for the advice I think the string favors that as well.

It looks like I should retake that full draw picture. I dont think I have my hands in the right place.

Cool character holmy .....untwist that string some and nock your brace height down a tad too...I like doing full draw shots with an arrow...that way I know exactly where to place my hand and how far to draw

That one looks like it is turning out fine, Iowa, particularly with that "wave".  ;)
