well either way i just heat treated and re reflexed it. ill take it out in about 1-2 hrs. I am certain that it will be fine so long as i go slowly. Currently its 60 inches long. if it doesnt reach target weight(which before i heat treated it was near 40 at target draw.) Ill pike it because i still have room to play with. when im ready to sand id like it to be almost 50 lbs. if i can id like to keep it at about 45 when all is said and done. Ill report my progress tomorrow and maybe the reflex held tonight. No worries about it though because i wont ship until ive shot it a TON.

OK. so its done with heat treating and it is holding 2.75 inches of reflex, im hoping to retain most of that. I will be finishing it tomorrow in terms of tiller.

Plan A was going to come in way under weight after I thinned the limbs with the table saw then sanded the tool marks out..  Plan B will probably be under also.  Plan C has potential.  I'll be working on it the next 2 days,  We'll see.

Man, this board bow stuff is harder to do than stave bows, because I'm trying to cut corners using power tools in a way that is not practical to do with a stave.  I bet if I have to go to plan D, it will not come in under weight.  I'm learning, which is actually why I joined this trade.   :)

How is everyone else coming along. With the due date coming up it would be nice to see where everyone is at. Mine was shipped out almost a month ago but my recipient has not posted any pics. I know that he got the bow though and loved it.

i havent got anything as of yet, i realize im late, so im just going to go the safe route and make a stable one and very simple, then if that succeeds then i might try something fancy and see if i can get it to work

No secrets here my friend.I'll post as soon as I can. We can't risk losing this knowledge again, like we almost did in past. The more people that know ,the better we all are,and the more we can all improve. I have started a journal with measurements, pics and performance(fps) to keep track of what works  and what doesn't.Someone might find it usefull in a hundred years (or maybe just amusing ???)

I have had a problem with my Red Oak trade bow.  I still think I can save it, ...but if I am anything but certain that it will be good and stable for my recipient, I am going to drop back to "plan B".  I just can't send out anything less than VERY awesome reliable...  Luckily, I started 3 red oak bows at the same time so I'll get one out eventually.
