« on: February 15, 2013, 10:32:22 am »
Ok folks, you have 6 weeks left till the deadline.  Please use this post as the official shipped and received thread.  Be sure to post lots of pictures I know everyone would love to see what can be made from a $6 board.

I have broken 4 so far but I have been experimenting apparently well beyond the capabilities of myself and/or red oak.  This next one shall be a bit more conservative.

Had to build a hot box this weekend for my project.  Apparently Unibond 800 doesn't like to set properly below 70 degrees.

The hot box turned out to be a bit more of a project and expense than I'd expected.  So far, I haven't lost any of the work I've done on my limbs for the bow, ...just been delayed a bit!

if i can shoot in my current build and all seems fine i may send it. I went from board to tillered last saturday. Now need some arrows to shoot it in. I need to shoot it around 400+ times until im satisfied that everything is rock solid. if not then i will make a new one. but well see.

My trade bow is done!  Now if I could just get my pictures to post!  Otherwise it came out really nice.  As soon as I get my next paycheck on March 2nd I am sending it out.  I hope the recipient will enjoy it.  I'll get pics up soon if I can.

Well I miss cut my board.  The bow will only make it to 30#.  Back on the search for another board.  grrr  Well, it will make a nice kid's bow one day or I'll back with ash or maple when I find ash or maple boards.

I made three bows...two broke and one made the cut. It has some set but I shot it a ton and throws an arrow right where I was looking. Figured I rather have some set and have it shoot where I am pointing then to have a fast crappy shooting bow.

Should be at someones house on Saturday.

Hope the new owner is happy with it. I always have doubts when its not for me and since this is my first board bow I hope they are pleased.

Post pictures when ya get it.

Shooting in bow #4.  Draws nice with no stack and hits where I'm looking. Tried it out on the Chono today . The bow is 50# @  28" .I only draw to 26" so you are around 44 lbs or so@26". I'm getting an average of about 158fps with an arrow of 450 grains.   My Damon Howat 65# recurve with Fg and maple limbs gets about 165-170 with the same arrow/ draw.  I like it! couple hundred more shots and a little lipstick and it's on it's way.

Ok, so i just came in from my garage. Ive been working on attempt number 2. I have put in about 3.5" of reflex and heat treated the belly.(took near 2 hrs lol) anyway. its a molle 2" wide and a 40/60 limb lever ratio. I will leave it in the garage over night to cool and take the new reflex. tomorrow i hope to start tillering  ;D
