Just putting this out there??
« on: February 15, 2013, 09:04:27 am »
Does anyone have access to or have a piece of granite or marble, or any type of hard stone surface that is ground perfectly flat?  I am looking for a piece about 36" long by 18" wide.  Just wondering if there was any thing out there and that might would be coming to the classic?  And no, I do not want some bodies tomb stone...lol.

Hi Charlie
I have a friend who lives near Elberton GA granite capital of the world maybe I can help. How thick does it need to be. Sometimes they have scraps to sell. If so I'll let you have it for what it costs me. Ron
If we can't help each other what is the point of being here?

Sounds great Ron.  I would think at least an inch.  What I am doing is putting together my arrow building station, and I will use this for all my straightening and heating work on my cane and wood arrows.  Thick enough to put pressure down on while working on arrows would be all.  See what you can get and what thickness and we will go from there?  And thank you very much.

Just ask a builder or demolisher of houses.  There's more polished, broken granite counter top material out there than you can shake a stick at.  I can get some but it will cost yah if I ship it...  and the guy at the post office will ask me, "Is this more rock yer sendin?  Don't have any rocks where you are sending this to... again?" ::)

Thanks Jack, I have talked to a few about what you said, and so far they have not been able to come up with anything.  Thanks for the suggestion though ;)

wish you were closer to kc cuz i sure aint gonna ship this stuff. but there is a granite counter top company near where i live.
they have a dumpster and you cant imagine how much of that stuff they toss.
sometimes really huge pieces it takes a person in the dumpster and another outside to take it outta yr hands.
have numerous pieces in the back yard including a piece of black that would fit yr dimensions.
if someone is rolling thru kansas city on their way to the classic, id be glad to meet up with em and load it for you.
if that doenst work out i can either haul myself or send with wayne to mojam.
its yrs if ya want it.

Hi Charlie I'm waiting on a reply from my guy if you have a chance to get a piece of granite for little or nothing I"d take it, this is gonna be a cash sale on my end. If you go that way I'm cool with it. Ron

Just how serious are you about this not being some body's tombstone? Serious, serious?  Or just serious?  Would it help if I told you to not look at the backside?

If you see a granite guys truck stop and ask him for a peice. Most sink cut outs are garbage. They may be able to line you up. A box of cool refreshments sometimes goes a long way.
