2013 Bow Trade Works In Progress

Got her final sanded and stained up nice........I had a accident.....I dropped the bow on the tip from about 2 foot up on my porch and had a tip overlay pop off......was pretty upset.  Got her prepped back up and re fitted.  Will sign and seal her up tomorrow.  Then time for handle wrap and rest.

Got my trade bow from Grady today . Kentucky coffee bean with cherry bark backing that looks sweet and white oak overlays and beaver grip . 55@28 . I am very proud to own one of your bows Grady .and lucky enough to get one of your first from a stave . The work Grady  put into this one is great . I  only got to shoot five arrows from it since I got home and the wife said there is a long tube waiting on you. Thank you Grady.it is a sweet shooter .

I have mine tillered out to 25" and should be able to get the last 3 tomorrow night. Sorry no pics stopped a bit late and they all came out grainy.

Last night I got my bow to #50 at 28". It was raining  though and I worked too long in between putting back in hot box. Wound up with 1-1/4" set. Set was holding right at 3/4" until late last night between tiller tweeking and shooting about 80 shots with moisture so high it took another 1/2".
I just got home and am fixin to go tinker some more with nocks and maybe a light heat trreat then put the finish tommorow.
I've taken pics but dont know how to post them yet. I'll figure it out when I'm done with the bow and can come up for air.

well the finish wrinkled up on me again so stripper down and switched finishes I'll see tonight when I get home if the finish coat is set up if it is not or needs one more coat I will ship Wednesday otherwise if everything looks good I will finish serving the string put the arrow rest and strike plate on it and ship tomorrow

OK I'll explain the pics here now.  The bow is 66" ntn and was pulling 50 at 28" measured from the belly side of handle. The stave was a peice of hickory that I had given to a freind to make a bow and helped him peel the bark layout and get started. He did no more work on the bow and about a year later I wasver there and he had the stave set up as a post under neath a large tarp cover. I traded a landscape timber for it back and saved it.
Bugs where thick in it and I barely managed to get around them enough to make the bow. I made it a little longer than I wanted because of the bugs but I think I worked around them enough to make it work.
I will string her up in a little bit and see how the heatreating worked then shoot some more and get her finished up ready to ship. I still have to make a proper string for it also, so I'm coming down to the wire timewise but I feel real good about the way it is going. I would rather ship late than have to cut corners to make the deadline.
