my weekend project
« on: January 08, 2013, 01:40:44 pm »
Here is half of a deer hide given to me by a buddy although it wasnt taken care of before it got to me I figured I would try to make something with it. I scraped and dehaired it then have it stretching. Any ideas?

Small drum heads? Knife sheaths?  Quiver?  Drum heads and a rawhide bowstring?

Not sure from here ,looks pretty rough,I would sand it with some 60/80 grit and see how it turns out, that will clean it up,looks moldy. :) Then you can use it to back a bow or any other project you would like. Raw hide is great stuff and very useful.  :)

yea like I said it was taken care of before it got to me but if I can use it I won't waste it.

I was thinking maybe some sheaths and and a first attempt at a drum.
