« on: December 27, 2012, 10:08:26 pm »
A few weeks before Christmas I helped a friend out and helped her Dad get his trailer fixed so he get moved from the coast to over here.  Today they showed up with an incredible gift.   This is about a 200 lb anvil dated  1-1-13   Happy happy happy ;D ;D ;D

Sweet!  I bet you could really pound some sinew on it.  I hope you aren't moving that thing around by yourself  :o

Does that say ACME on the side there? Beep... Beep!

Excellent gift and I'm assuming 1913.

Even as much as I hate moving I must say looks like you got paid well. Best payment I ever got was moving the Sis. in laws piano to a second floor, aint had to work out since. ::) Fine looking anvil got me in envy.

Thats the real deal there and you can see the battle marks in it. Lots of good medicine in that pig iron.  ;)

Recently discovered one like that in my grandfathers barn apparently it was made in Sweden around the same time as the one you got. Makes me wonder where they have been and what they have been doing the last 100 years. Cool stuff

I've looked for one like this for quite some time. When ever I would see one on Craigslist the farriers would be me to it. buying off Ebay and having it shipped is certainly out of the question so after several years of wanting this was a very nice surprise.

Darwin I agree, wish I knew the history. I do know the last 30 years have been on the Oregon coast in a barn. other then that???
