Man you turned that into a nice bow. That was a really wild looking stave you started with, makes the finished product that much sweeter Steve. I like that handle also, suits the bow real well. I have a similar looking bow in the works now and needs a few more inches of draw length and I'll know if it will survive, hope it comes out as nice as that one. :)

Wow, thanks alot guys.  It seems like every bow I make takes about the same amount of time--alot, because as I get better at making them I'm always increasing the challenge.  I've gotten to where I can lay-out and tiller, and make shootable, everything I take on, but I lack in areas of finish, overlays, handles, heat treating, etc.  So I still have a ways to go before I feel fully accomplished.

Zion:  I'll take this bow out, probably today (suppose to be sunny!) and walk the range and shoot it alot.  I'll do that a couple of times and call it a bow.  If it survives I will consider it a shooter.

ionicmuffin:   This stave started out almost V-shaped as the handle was set back with nearly straight limbs about 5".  It lost that quickly and was down to 2" after the long string.  One limb had a natural deflex in the middle so I worked the other limb so it took some set in the same place.  That was the hard part--finding that balance between proper tiller and introducing some set.

Thanks, Del, Pappy, VMBs, Carson.....

Cardboardduck--Its definately worth it and, really, all it takes is more patience

Thanks much to the rest of you who commented and I look forward to seeing your future bows.  It was all of your works that kept me going on this one!

its been said before  "wow".  Makes me feel like a wimp cuz at this point in my journey I would'nt touch a stave like that for anything more than killing a snake. Really good job my friend on what is obviously a very challenging stave.   Danny
