3 pc BBO Takedown
« on: November 19, 2012, 08:48:43 pm »
Finished up this bow the other day.  I had another just like it but a Canadian Diplomat attached to the Canadian embassy in Nigeria took a fancy to it so it's now in Nigeria.  This is the 4th bow like this that I make since I wrote on how to make them in an issue of PA magazine 7 or 8 years ago.  They are labour intensive to make but interesting none the less.  At 65" long overall this bow is a bit longer than the last one I made but it also draws a couple inches more.  It has limbs 1 3/8" wide that taper to 3/8" nocks with a final draw weight is 58# @ 28".  I used Cocobolo for the tip overlays, the bolt supports and the nut lugs.  The handle is a laminate of Osage, Rock Maple and BC.  It shoots quite well and is pretty fast.  Here's some pictures.

Hi Marc,

That bow has some fine looking lines...sure wish you needed a nice flute or two for Christmas!!  Keep up the great work and stay warm!  Still looking for that cd someday. :)

I really don't know much about laminated bows, but that looks awesome! I bet it's fast as well.
