Not really. The continuous backing strip changes things considerably.

If you read carefully, that guy explains that the back strip does not need to be continuous and that he just made it to be like that because of some reason.

There is no continuous back strip there.

Still not the same as just sticking it between the lams. In actual pics I see a butt joint where the ear is braced against the belly material.

I'm doing a similar one right now.  Don't do it that way in the pic you drew.  Se the Siyah on top of the bottom lam and feather th joint in then run the backing lam up the siyah a bit. 

Bowskin Archery makes alot of bows with Siyahs.  Look at what he's doing.  Seems to work.

Agree. My point is that the ears might be installed between back and belly and the bow will not look funny or awkward as the first few comments were suggesting...
