Kenneth, I killed the bull with a sinew backed yew recurve that I recently built and an ash arrow. Yes, I hit the liver and the bull went about 500 yards before it died.

Thank you all for the really nice compliments.

Very well written story Gordon and really enjoyed getting your text messages while on your hunt.  Great pictures to put it all together and share the story. I was wishing I was up there with you guys the whole time, especially when you were giving the day by day reports.  :o Those are memories you Max and Chuck will share for a lifetime. Chuck is a great caller and I am so glad it all came together for you.  And with Max there to see it is the icing on the cake. Congratulations my friend

thank you Gordon for posting such an incredible account of your hunt, I recognized some of those spots in the pics and made miss the area and the hunt even more. the fact that you got to share it with Max is even better. wish I could have been there, but there is always next year. congrats on recovering the bull, you did a excellent job of being patient and in understanding that if you pushed him you may never have found him. do all of us a favor and write a article to PA. with the photos and details of the hunt it would be a valuable accent to the magazine. you are becoming a seasoned elk hunter and I would always be honored to have you in my camp. PS: did chuck sqeal like a girl again on the steep trail ;D ?

Gordon your story telling is only outdone by your bow making. Great job on all accounts and thanks for sharing it. It is a dream of mine to someday be up in the mountains chasing elk for a couple weeks.  Danny

I just got around to reading this, Gordon, but so glad I did. Your story was very enjoyable and the pics are great, too! Thanks so much for sharing....and....congratulations!!
