Make-up bow for gun doc / 2nd good medicine bow
« on: September 29, 2012, 07:52:44 pm »
Hey fellas,
Recently I made a bow for Josh, a 52" 60#'er drawing 26".....I shot it over 200 arrows and finished her up and sent it out. Well Josh was shootin it and he was passed 200 arrows and lovin the bow.  That is when "good medicine" decided to go to tomatoe stake heaven.....
Here is what I made for him this time.....extended 2" and weight dropped some. This is an Ojibwa bow, based on a museum piece (first pic). The original is 53" and this one is 54" the width and thickness are correct, as is the paint scheme (one change where the reddish bands run all the way around instead of on the back only) the weight came in just over 50# at 26" maybe this one will make it past 500/600 arrows, eh >:D
I titled this bow "the second good medicine", ( La deuxiene bonne me'decine )not gonna jinx it by saying what it's got in her.Hope ya like this one Josh, and hopefully I did this one right, eh.

I think I like that one better, Rich!! Hate to hear about your bow, Josh, but looks like you came out ahead in the end. No better guy than Half Eye, that's for sure!! :)

Man Rich I really love your style, every bow you post is a gem. Some like plain bows with no decoration or art on them and yes they are
nice if well crafted but I really love bows with just the right amount of dressing up on them, along with good tiller of course. If they are
historically replicated then even better yet. Your bows have all the right elements.
Nice work and I imagine Josh is gonna appreciate the beauty of that bow.

Oh my!  That is some kinda awesome! :o. I just started on some arrows to go with that beauty.  I believe that I will actually crest them to match.  That is not something I would normally take the time to do.  But with this bow, I shall cut no corners on the necessary accoutrements.  I might even have to make a new quiver and bow case for this one!  Thank you very much Rich!  I am deep in your debt my friend!  Wow!  Josh

Rich, you are the man!  I don't think your tillering could be improved on - hell, wood just breaks sometimes..... for me, it happens more than I care to admit.  That's what makes it interesting.  If the batter hit a home run every time at the plate, it would be a pretty dull game, eh?    That is a beauty - I think I like it better than the first one.

Well, Josh deserves it. I got one hell of a bow from him in the bow trade. That's a really sweet looking bow, Rich.
