Kept it simple!
« on: September 15, 2012, 12:09:44 am »
No fuss hunting model.62-1/2" NTN. 50#@28". Hickory backed Red Oak.Slightly bendy handle .9" lightly flipped tips that straighten ever so much when asked to.Bone inlaid strike plate (left a little proud).Cordage wrapped handle Waterproofed with TBIII.Don't remember what stain ,but finished with Teak oil on top. It was kind of nice cranking this one out .Total time spent  , about six or seven hours. (I think). I'll have to get a pic of the back profile so you guys can tell me what you would call it. I guess it's sort of a softened down Molly.

Well? What do we call it ? Not too extreme. Maybe.........a shy Molly. I don't know , but she does just what you ask for. No complaints on performance . ..........I'm going to stop now, this is starting to sound inappropriate. Thanks for looking. Dave.

I like it alot, it has great color and the strike plate looks good against that darker stain.

Nice job on that RO, for sure. How thick was your hickory back? I really couldn't tell from the pics. Just curious about it possibly over-powering the red oak.

Hickory back is only 1/8" thick  when applied. Less ,once it is scraped and sanded. The belly is completely flat as well.It allready has a few hundred arrows through it with no  noticeable ill effects. Only time will tell, but I'm confident it will hold.

It sure seems to send them fast and hit the target with authority. Most importantly ,it shoots w here you look.I'm thinking of trying some of those beautifully sculpted bows that are attributed to the Great Lakes region around me.Hopefully I'll have some pics up soon for you Rich (Halfeye) ,as most of the searches for inspiration lead to your bows.

Be careful what you call that bow because your wife might get jealous of you spending to much time with "Molly."  I know I'm a goof but seriously guys this is an awesome bow.  I got to shoot it myself and it shoots amazing.  Even I can hit the target with this bow.
