Red Oak Tim Baker special with flipped tips
« on: September 14, 2012, 04:56:26 pm »
Made with a good red oak board, was going to be a straight bow but I flipped the tips a bit right after buying a heat gun. I could probably heat treat the belly into some reflex, but when something isn't broken...

45lbs at 28", 65" long 1¼" wide, 1" of set. The handle is just a little thinner than the limbs for 4". It's just enough to be comfortable in the hand and makes hand placement easier.

Use a honey colored stain on that bow because it is SWEET!  Must be the week for simple and elegant bows.

Love it, buddy.  Just love it.

A fine job with a narrow piece of red oak! I may have to re-think things a little. That is one to be proud of, for sure!!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

I love it.  I think you were right to not put in any additional reflex.  I love that length for oak bows and I think that  little bit of set just makes for a sweet release without hurting a thing.  Great work.
