Stemmed Point
« on: June 30, 2012, 06:05:36 pm »
In between working on bows today I got a few minutes to beat up some rock.  Took this spall from Bevan out.

My granddaughter came out and took some pictures.  She got me using the notcher.

And I got a picture of her holding the new point.

Should be a good hunting point, 131gr.  Think we'll go swimming now.

I've found numerous stemmed points that are outstanding! Yours is perfect! I've hunted with a few myself. Great point George.

Thank you guys.  I may go on a stemmed point run for the next few days.  I really liked doing this one.  I used the ishi for almost all of it.

Thanks again guys.  Bub, Marcela is a princess for sure.  And, never have I seen a kid swim like she does, almost always underwater.  She tried knapping, but it didn't have enough excitement to hold her attention.  She works on her bow for an hour or so, but then shoots off to do something else fun.  Typical 8 year old.

You did that stone proud Sir!! Great looking point!
Bowmakers are a little bent, but knappers are just plain flaky.

Thanks, and thanks for sending it.  I have one more little piece of it and that one big spall of the white stuff.  Maybe when you're here we'll pound on that one?  I saved the slabs so you can show me how to work them, I stink at it.
