More over shot stuff

I have been working flakes for hunting points and using this time to practice side to side flaking technique. The flakes in the first picture are pushed mostly from the left base to tip. I like running tip to base on left side. I did not set this one up great because this flake was flat on the back.  So you will see good overshot on front and nice reverse platform flaking on back. Now remember on the back if this was setup correctly then a long set would have been taken  so the center would be covered.

The photo above shows the reverse platform set up. The photo below shows a strategic flake taken off so that you can enter the platform and finish the series of flakes.

If you abrade it will not work. Only brush  with pressure flaker. And pop, dont push hard, dont pull out, only lightly push and pop!

With the base cleaned up it is ready for notches

Finished and hitting target wt. I think it is faster to ABO if you dont over think it.

Thank you! I wanted G to see a little better what i was taking about. Also,  Tower it would be a honor to sit and break rock with you man!. Thanks for all the kind words. I think i have made it to a new place with the ABO but i am still working out what come when if you know what i mean. OK so i can edge to edge, and reverse platform so now i just need to make the set up just right. If i can do it then both  sides will be edge to edge and sharp as JW's wit.

I'm so far from where you are that I can't conceive the process.  I struggle to reach centerline with flakes (except now and then when they overshoot and I don't know why).  I need to sit with you for a couple days and just watch.

John, I'm trying to follow are you setting the platforms up below centerline? I'm just not quite graspig what you are calling a reverse platform.

OK imagine you are knapping-now you are making a normal platform to remove a flake- now rather than making a normal platform you  do just the opposite. You might think this is just not going to work but the flake removal is now manipulated to change the physics. I will be making a video to explain this later today.

I see now why you are confussed. I did not draw the reversed platform in the second part of the diagram.
