Latest R/D bow ~ money shot added + video
« on: June 04, 2012, 11:23:58 pm »
66" tip to tip and 65# at 28".  Bambo backed Ipe with a carbonized bamboo core.  Feels like a great performer!  I'm feeling pretty comfortable with this general design.  made some changes to how I glue up.  Also rebuilt the "dust maker 9000", a 6" 50 grit sanding drum, so it goes fairly quickly as far as these things so.  I've got a better sense of thickness to precut and can quickly grind down to close to final tiller.  I get a little whiny when things don't go my way but in general I feel like I know this design.

I like that handle 8) Nice glue lines also. Or...what glue lines?  :P
But where's the full draw shot?!

I think there is some excess weight in the tips. How wide are the last few inches of the limbs? You might be able to gain a little extra speed if you reduce them a bit.

Hey, that's looking really cool & slick.
Nice photos.
If I'm going to be really picky, I'd say you could round off the very tip on the belly side from string groove out to the tip to look more elegant. It is atually getting thicker at the moment... just aesthetics really. Hope you don't mind the suggestion.
BTW. I've just run the figures through the catputer and it says the reduction in tip mass will give you an extra 0.76 fps O:)

How about a braced or full draw shot? We never get to see those for some reason.

Braced and full draw shots.  you are absolutely right.  Photos of full draw are a pain for a few reasons.  I have  a video coming of my shooting it. I think. . . If I have video editing software on this computer.

I did some shooting and it's pretty screaming I think.  Aesthetics are important also.  If II wanted to squeze every possible foot per inch out of it I'd make compound bows.  O:)

thanks guys.  the video camera went dead so when it recharges I'll try to ge the disk finalized  and video uploaded.
