harvested some black cherry yesterday

Never used black cherry before. I've sealed the ends with poly. Now just a waiting game for it to dry. Its about 7ft. long.

Save the bark - it makes really nice decorative blood red wraps. A bit like birch bark.

yea i was actually thinking of maybe using the bark on the bow when im finally able to work on it.And i was able to pick a bunch of black cherries from it as well. Think im gonna get the wife to make a pie out of them

Your wood isn't going to do much drying unless you split it.

Cherry can get buggy. I would at least half it and spray it down.

    I'm jealous. We don't have any black cherry around here, so I've never had a stave to work with. I have made a couple backed cherry bows from lumber and they turned out pretty sweet. Plan to pick up another board or two when I get to a hardwood store.

well i didnt know that when you cut a cherry tree down that it will start bleeding all over the bark. i look at it yesterday and it was bleeding out at different spots and it looked like a blood red sap.
