Good stuff
I just don't think a barb is worth the effort except on larger hooks to be used on set lines.
I've got some large hooks with the barb on the outside like Dakota Kid did. I plan to use them on a trotline and shoot for catching a forty pound catfish.
The point angle on the ctaat hook will work similar to a circle hook. A fifty percent hook up to bite ratio is good for a stone hook and actually landing fifty percent of hooked fish would be a good day. They just aint as efficient as a modern steel hook at hooking fish, but stone hooks get bit and catch fish pretty well.

Here's one I made from a gravel flake last night and videoed the process to put on youtube.
I'll post a link when it's uploaded.

It was raining cats and dogs this morning so I sat it out and made another fish hook out of a central tx flake.

I got a sack full of agate flakes today so I worked a couple into hooks.
The small one is brazillian agate and the larger one is green moss agate.
I learned today that I love agate.

A steelhead would hit that orange-ish one just because it's the right color. It's the same hue as fish eggs.

Have you ever used the small capsule type "hooks" with the pints on both ends? They get tied in the middle and completely hidden inside the bait. after it's swallowed it turns sideways in the stomach and won't pull out easily sideways. Usually made from bone antler or wood. Just curious if they work half way decent.
I have nothing but scorn for all weird ideas other than my own.

I had a Comanche buddy that used to make them out of both bone and antler. I have a few he made and have always wanted to try one.

I never tried a straight stick type hook. It would be hard to get most fish around here to actually swallow it without them feeling you and spitting it out.

Here's three more I made today
Indian moss agate, which I dropped and broke after it was finished,
indian red moss agate
Paute, maybe on the brown one, I'll have to look again what it is called

Very nice hooks 1492.  :) They look like they could attract a bite by them selves.
Here is a worm hook combo. >:D

Thanks Zuma,
they do have an attraction to hungry fish for sure.
Here's one I made for a catfish this Memorial day weekend coming up.
I'm gonna try to get another one out of the front half of the broke biface
