Scaredy Cat
« on: March 11, 2012, 02:40:27 pm »
Oh dear I'm suffering from tiller fright :-[
I've got my latest Yew ELb at a low brace and back to about 24" @ 55#
I've plugged about a dozen knots on this stave and it's scaring the life out of me.
Ever since the last one went BANG I've been a nervous wreck... dunno if my doc' would understand ::).

Don't let caution or good sense get in your way!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Just had a though, maybe if I don't use the winch and pull on the rope by hand I'll get more feel?
I could also stand further back and get a better look at it too.
The winch ratchet clattering has got a sound of doom about it, like the blade of a guillotine being winched up...
oh dear I got it bad... don't say BOO anyone.

Invite that annoying neighbor over to have a look at your latest bow.  Maybe let him draw it back while he's there.  >:D

Keep it together Del! Know how you feel. I've been a bit ''preoccupied'' too lately. I actually had a nightmare the other night. I dreamt somebody had stolen my trade bow and kept it strung up all night. It had gone all twisted and had chrysals on the belly AND the back. No joke!

I've been having the exact same problem with my current project. I couldn't bring myself to draw it past around 40-45# because I'd keep having visions of it exploding on me. Hell, I had visions of it exploding the first time I braced it.

Needless to say, guess what the final draw weight was.

Ahh well, hopefully next time I'll be a little calmer.
