Delaminated handle
« on: August 06, 2007, 05:13:06 pm »
ive been working on a 64" osage/boo laminate.  The handle is about 10" including the fades.  When i went to draw the bow for the first time the handle became delaminated.  I am gonna guess that there is to much bend in the handle.  I was using Loc Tite quick set epoxy to glue the handle.  Would a different epoxy such as Urac or Smooth On prevent this problem??? ???

The best fix for that is a thin lam, about 1/8" thick, between the handle and core that extends past the handle by at least 1". Gradually thin the lam out from the handle out.
