As of about 10:30am this morning my trade bow has been in the hands of the USPS. Delivery date...Saturday or Monday.

I have found that there is a point where the bow is no longer allowed in the bed! After snake skins or crap skins applied seems to be the limit! :o :o

Pat, the hickory popped a splinter a year ago and I had it sanded out. This time the osage let go while I was just warming it up. The humidity had dropped here like 20% overnight, I think that's what did it.

I'm working this piece of osage. The shortest bow I' ve yet to try 56 1/2 t2t. Got it braced and pulled to poundage at 14". I wasn't planning on backing it but the bow is starting to take a little set so should I back it now and then finish the tiller or vicey vercy??

How narrow are those limbs Knapper and how long had the stave been seasoning?  It looks ELB-ish in design, which (if I'm seeing it right) I would not recommend for a shorty.  But even so, I wouldn't expect osage to take set at 14" unless your wood was green or your target draw weight is so high it's exceeding what the wood can do.  I've not had any luck with a backing pulling set out of an osage bow.  You need to work through why you're getting set so early.  I'd like to see the bow unbraced and from the front to get a better feel for it.  Very odd that you'd get set so early unless the wood is green.
