My trade bow wants to be crooked more than any piece of osage I've ever worked.  I knew there was some swirly grain on one tip, but when I thinned that tip the minute I put stress on it the silly thing moved about an inch sideways.  Dangdest thing I've ever seen.  Had to put more bend in the handle and finally just ahead of that tip to get the string back in the handle. 



I still have some stiff spots, and I hung it on the tillering scale crooked, but it's starting to bend nicely.  55lbs @ 24" so far (though it isn't that far in the picture).  Can't pull all that hard with the left hand and get a picture with the right.

That ERC is cool but I really like that crooked stick...  with those two possibles I see the need for insurance!!  Can't wait to see what you do with them :)

Keenan, Those are great sticks you have there. Just my style. I have a redwood (sequoia) branch (not my trade bow) that looks just like that snakey piece you have there. I've been nursin it for about a year and a half now. I'll let y'all know if I'm successful at it. Got ready to brace but I want to put rawhide on it before I do. I also have a weight lifting bench that I've been threatening to take to the recycler several times (don't use it for weight training) but now I know what I am going to use it for. A few slight alterations and I'll have a shaving horse similar to yours. That's such a great idea I'm borrowing it. The only thing is I need to find a dumbhead like the one on yours. What is that thing, a rubber roller off a boat trailer or what? Won't have a cool boat seat like yours though, just the padded seat that is already on it. Is there a reason why the front end  swivels? Is that so you can steer while you're ridin?
