I promised when I signed up to let you know what I was doing, but had some health problems for a while and didn't even have the energy to type a note. Things are going well now and I can get back in the saddle. I had a hickory backed ipe longbow started when I signed up, and I gather it would be OK to finish it up for the swap but it's my first longbow and my first HBI, so I think I'll start another one - same thing. Hope to get it glued up today. I have a friend coming next week who has a phone camera and the knowhow, so maybe I can get a couple pictures up.    Rob

Goodness Y'all with all the Purty Osage Glowing through this thread... I had to go out
and skin a little on this crazy WiddaMaker stave I have left over from cutting with George last
July 4th... There may be a bow inside it yet!   :)

Pat, I am 95% sure its Pacific Dogwood (Cornus nuttallii).
Picked it and one other Dogwood Stave up off I guy out in California.
Both staves are 18 to 20 months since felled.
Looks good and smells better. :)
Be interesting to see if the knots that straddle the grip outside the fades will be pass throughs or not.

I finally got some free time to spend in the garage today.  While my glue is cooking I heated some reflex in my trade bow.  This is the first time using a jig so hopefully I don't screw it up.

Looks better than my rig Clint, that aint no poop either. I have a waterbed rail buddy. Im not into to tools like I should be. The end results are the same with twice the labor on my part.

Here is my swapper. I say its sinew o'clock...what say you? I have notta clue what the weight is. That braced shot  is straight off the vice with no tinkering. Good tapers I tell ya'. The string alignment is so-so, but it leans in the right direction for my recip so Im leaving it alone. The tips are wenge. I have my sinew ready to rock and some nasty ol' HIDE GLUE BLACKHAWK to secure it......this time anyway. The bow is 58" ntn and Im shooting for 48-52# when it leaves here. So far this one has come easy. My TG swapper was an easy one too! LUCKY ME!

Another trick for getting more bows done, if thats your flavor. I do lots of other things while bending or treating with that rig.

Is that a piece of your drum set?  Looks like it should be holding up a symbol or something.  Looks like it works good.
