Flightarchery?
« on: July 20, 2007, 03:31:55 pm »
Is the flightarchery-site on the move? It's been missed :)

I'm thinking of making a new flightbow soon, and I think I red somewhere that there is a rule in the US that forbid arrows shorter than 23", because they are too effective.
...so I was wondering what kind of selfbow-design would work best with such a short arrow. I'm thinking of just making a 50-55" long hickory flatbow ala the ones that Dan Perry decribed in his article in PA. Or perhaps a 60" long, and just a longer stiff riser?

Here's my earlier hickory flightbow that shot 218 fps last christmas.

kviljo,

shapely hic stck you have there.

How wide is it and what arrow weight at 218 fps?

Reading between the lines, The last "save it for september bow" badger posted was on stickbow.

May be marvin will have the bottom line here ...

Nice bow and impressive speed Kviljo, what is the draw weight?  Justin

It's the one to the very left in this picture:

I think it is 62" long, and about 50-55# at 25-26", if I remember correctly. 7mm wide at the tips. And I think the 218 fps was recorded with a 200 grain arrow, but it could as well be 150 grains, not sure about that. At least it seems like it prefer arrows around 200 grains for distance. It shot 290 meters once, with an arrow that O.L. Adcock made. I was impressed, to say the least :o

But I was hoping for 300 meters... :)

The sight is supposed to be moving over here just like the warbow sight has it's own heading. Hopefully soon. Steve

Nice! - or rather great in fact! ;D

I've started on two new hickorys now. One with a long riser and limbs that work all the way out to the tips, plus one that has a tiller more like the holmegård. Both are sentershot, so I hope there is some meters to gain there at least.
