preparing hickory to glue up?

is there any thing else i need to do to the hickory board and the hickory backing other than run it over a saw blade to rough it up? any sanding or degreasing? thanks for any help!

You don't need to run it over a saw blade.Just rough it up with some rough grit sand paper or a rasp and glue it up.Have fun.

What kind of glue are you using. Some like smooth glue surfaces and others like it rough. Pat
