improved finish (pics added)
« on: November 09, 2011, 06:58:18 pm »
I've been working on my end game. Trying to get my points looking a little better when finished. Sometimes I leave a lot of step fractures and hinges right at the end that really affect the overall look of the point. I know my notching still leaves something to be desired, but if I keep lookin at Tower's points maybe it will start fallin into place! Also been trying to slow down and get the convexity more uniform.

Let me know what you think, I'm open to criticism.

Hey Sadie, that obsid knife came from your rock. I got a few more pieces that will hopefully turn out some points, but this was the biggest.

Stringman, some of us have been in this position for quite some time, since the format change. I don't know what to tell you other than use a photo site to upload pics. I know Justin and Mullet have tried some things to solve this, but nothing solid. Many posts on the site about the same problem. Look at heat treated keokuk and you'll understand

Thanks, guys. This stuff came from a batch of burlington i spalled out and cooked in the oven. Course the keokuck came from Timo and the obsid from Sadie, but the rest of it resembles local rock that i can pick up. Just recently found a guy who is willing to show me some more places to find the brown CO chert. He also said he knows a place in MO we can pick up more of that "candy" rock (sec pic.) Wish it would have turned out a little nicer. Sure has pretty color!

Thanks for looking (finally!)
