Need more tags
« on: October 30, 2011, 02:07:45 am »
Been a good season so far, last week got my first primitive deer. Tonight got my very first buck, ever, and with my little osage bow and cane arrow. Shot just a hair back, but he only went 200 yards. Got both lungs, arrow sticking out both sides, not a complete pass through but close. My brothers came out to help look for him, and had to make fun of me for not using a compound, they think I am crazy but whatever works I say. Hate trying to look through a little sight any way, and they are way to heavy, I like my sticks and rocks.

If they have a problem with your choice of equipment, just point over your shoulder to that buck on the wall and simply mutter, "good 'nuff fer him, huh?"

They are just jealous that you are a better archer, a more passionate and compassionate predator, and an all around better man.  That's all.  When they are ready to take off their training wheels and wear big boy pants you will show them the way.  Hehehe.    >:D
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Nice one! Way to go. I'll bet your brothers will be asking you to show them how to make a real bow now. Some people are hunters, and some are shooters.

I like compound shooters.  Virtually everyone I've ever helped build a bow in the shop has been a compound shooter.  They are our future in a lot of cases.  I was when I first caught the bug.

The arrow is river cane, turkey fletch, and this one was a trade point that I made. George I have to say I was a compound shooter, but it always felt unatural because I learned to shoot with an old recurve when I was a kid. One of my best memories growing up. I just feel more comfortable shooting like this, and that is key to hunting confidence in your ability and equipment. No going back now, good huntin fellers.
