playing around in the slab pile today....

this is how I make a point from a square edge slab...(The Earl Bird way)...first a nice slab and then I cut the perform with a glass cutter





then I work it from the square edge one side at a time





then go to the grinder to remove all the deltas from this past





then past two



remove more deltas



now she is getting thin



work the edge and notch





wax and wallah you have a clay for the keeper case

Is your 2nd pass over top of the first pass after the frind ?. On the same side?

Mullet if you have any extra coral like this I will take a flat rate box FULL..............
Nugget after each pass I will first grind off all deltas then make the next pass over the last pass sometime using the ridges from the last pass to get longer flaks IF  a longer flak is needed...hope this helps...................Thanks Curt

nice do- a- long, there's a guy around here that uses the wet sanderwhen the point is almost finished, then hit's the edges with the sander, then makes the final sharpining chipping, man the edges come out beautiful, Bub

Dang that's a HUGH point.  Nice work.  I'd like to see the tool pics added.  I've never heard of this type of knapping before.  I just barrowed a tile saw and cut some geodes w/ it that I thought if I could cut it into a slab I could maybe knap it.  Anybody ever try that?  Sweet point Piper, dpgratz

Awesome point Curt, if you or Eddie has any of that quality of Pinhead SIT ON IT, the source is gone gone gone. I have refused sales for months now. I am sitting on what I have left until I can find another source. Quality top shelf pinhead is rare as it is, now its endangered,lol
put that point in your roaster to bring some pink back and it wont blow up
