First osage bow, Stave from MWirwicki
« on: October 07, 2011, 08:04:58 pm »
Hey everyone,

This bow represents a lot of firsts for me. It is my first bow from a stave, my first osage bow, and my first character bow. Got this stave in a trade from Mwirwicki, and it has been a pleaure to finally get my hands on some of that yella wood. The bow shoots very fast for its length and weight, shooting flat from 20 yards, and I think it will make a great Turkey bow. The stave started with about 1" reflex and it is dead flat after unstringing and about 1000 shots. It has some very nice snake in the top limb. Here are the specs.

50" n2n unbacked osage
44#@24"
7"non-working handle ( was orgionally gonna make a bendy handle, but decided not too.)
Dead flat after unstringing.
Tip overlays are padauk and antler...

Can't wait to get my hands on more osage.

Jon

Dang fine job there pal. I like that tiller. If I know Matt you got a superbly aged stave to work with, nothing better than seasoned staves.

Excellent, that's really bending hard, and no set.
Great tiller, nice bit of character.

Very nice job for that many"firsts". If you had said that was your 20th bow I would believe it. Excellent work.

Thanks for all the praise guys... I really enjoyed building this one...

Jon- it is probably my 13th or 14th  bow, but all my others have been from boards...
