Hey guys, I just wanted to share some pics of this bow I finally finished up. I had posted the early stages of this bow in another thread when it was supposed to be my trade bow, but ended up too light. (
http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,25939.0.html). Anyway, it ended up at 35# @ 28". Turns out a guy I work with is looking for a lighter bow, so I finished this off for him.
It's rawhide backed, and about 67" ntn. I used some mahogany leather antiquing gel on the rawhide to give it some color, which kinda matched the color of the purpleheart in the handle and tips. This one took about 1" of set, I think because I worked the inner limbs a little too hard early in the tillering. I had fun with the tips on this one and made them narrower than my previous bows. I left them thicker to begin with, and when the tillering was done, I was surprised at how much wood kept coming off without them starting to bend.
I might add a shelf and handle wrap yet, depending what my buddy wants. Anyway, here's the pics:
