Question on d belly bows

I need any and all info on making a d belly cross section longbow. Cant find much on how to tiller one, guessing reduce weight/correct tiller by taking wood from the side ? I want to try a bamboo backed ipe with a d belly. I,m also guessing ipe isn't a candidate for a true longbow so maybe 60ish in length for a 28" draw 50lb bow. And can I stick to the 5/8 rule with this combo?

ELB is floor tillered with pretty much an even taper in width and depth along the limb. The back of the bow is a growth ring. Tillering is mostly on the belly, the width is adjusted to keep it straight, the string tracking true and the tips are reduce late in the process when adding the nocks, the section is just about round at the tip.

Thanks Del. I was just on your website and you have some beautiful work there. Are the top and bottom nocks both sidenocks? I love the looks of these bows. D tiller and cross section are very pleasing to the eye. I have never made or tillered a d cross section belly but am excited about trying it.

I've only done side nocks on one bow, and they are top and bottom, but on opposite sides so the string tracks on a slight diagonal.

On the D's I've done I set the belly shape early ad keep it. I tiller the belly. Same steps as a flatbow. Jawge
