Not long at all.  I have been using scissors to unzip the belly, then pull the skin off starting at the head.  That maybe takes a minute or two.

As far as tacking them down, that maybe takes me 5-8 minutes (just a guess).

Like most things, once you do it a few times, you will get a lot quicker.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I tan mine in glycerin, got a friend making bio diesel and it's a by product of the process, just put it in a jar of it over night, Bub

If you tan them with glycerin they won't work as good for gluing down on a bow. All you have to do is skin it, scrape what meat that is still on it, off, and tack or staple it to a piece of cardboard or wood till it dries.

When you put it on a bow, just hydrate it to make it soft, I rub TB on the bow and lay the skin down and smooth out all the bubbles. Then wrap it lightly with an Ace bandage until it is dry.

Man you should have frozen it..

Like Clint said. I cut the head off, peal the skin off around the top, then grab it and pull it off. When you get to the anus, take your time, and you will have to cut before and after the anus to disconnect the connective tissue. It's the only area that's tricky. Then tack it to a board as straight as you can get it. I draw a line straight down the middle to use as a guide so it doesn't dry crooked. I then put it in the sun to dry out. I let them dry all day q d they are ready. That's it.  Check out my thread on here, Snake skinning Day.

I killed a rattler one day, walked back to the car skinned it, rubbed down the back of my bow with tihgtbond and slipped the skin right over, I let it dry over night and then trimmed off the belly. They work just fine for backing fresh. Steve

For hard tan I skinn and board it for soft tan I skinn then mix  1part denatured alcohol and 1 part glycerin lay it on a board and paint the mix on it once a day for 7 days and your done after 7 days it's soft tanned  Soft tans work good for hat bands bracelets and belts you can sew them on
