American Warbow Society

Another Canadian here, I shoot a 91lb and soon to be 120lber Italian yew warbow and a 115lb Ironwood warbow (in the tillering stages of a 120lb tri-laminate).
 I like the sounds of the AWBS and like the idea of regional branches, if the AWBS does not cover Canada, I would be interested to see how many Canadians shoot the great English warbow, to see if a CWBS would be possible! I am a member of the EWBS and definatly see the benifets of that society, a wealth of information and a way to organise large more "serious" shoots.

The American Warbow Society sounds like a great idea I enjoy making and shooting the english warbows but here in California there are very few of us.

I'm from California as well,  that makes two now.

Hello everyone,

After seeing the steady stream of members that would like to see an American Society, I talked to the EWBS chairman about a general format for any new society. The problem as you will know is the scale that the society would need to cover and the logistics of putting it together, Dag has made good efforts bringing the idea to our attention but this really isn't a job for 1 person, when the EWBS was formed it was about 12 people who got together and many of them were in regular contact anyway.

The EWBS committee is currently looking into other chapters namely a German and Canadian one so an American one would make sense but there would need to be a few members that would take responsibility for it, it cant just be one person doing the work. When I hear more I will keep you all informed.

Hmmm... I'd love to be part of this.  I'm working on my second longbow and it's 60# at 30" draw.  The next one will be 70#, and the next 80#....working up to 100#.  I've even got a place to shoot it.

I'm very interested in becoming a part of this if possible.  I live in the D.C. area, I'll put a thread up to see if I can find interest for primitive/war bow/traditional archery shooting in general in my area, and see if I can find any bowyers in the area that might be interested in this sort of thing as well.

I've only very recently started archery; I have practically no instruction or experience as of yet, and I currently have a 55# longbow. But I am interested in developing the strength and skill to be able to shoot with a war bow as well as make one, both English and recurves (a recurve of a significant poundage and made in a traditional style could count as a war bow, yes?  or do you define a war bow strictly as a longbow-type with a certain poundage?).

Hello All,
So it has been mentioned several times that getting a website, even if its just a Facebook page or a simple blog, up and running would be very helpful to get this Society of the ground.

Anyone good with websites and such? I have no experience in website domains and programming. The best I could do is make a facebook page, that way we have a central communications area on the web to call our own. But then again not everyone uses facebook.
