Well folks looks like we have a bit of success today. I used the same layout/profile on this bow as I did on the Hick/Osage that blew on me. Not sure if the hickory was bad on the other or not but this one survived
I was a bit more aprehensive as this was a Hickory / Teak build and it's tillered out to #25 @ 23" but it seems that thinning out the backing helped to keep the backing from crushing the Teak belly. Teak may be an OK belly wood for lower weight Kid's bows after all

This is my oldest son, Colter, happy to see his Dad has finally made him a bow that didn't blow up on him

I'll snap a few more pics of the bow up close after I get a chance to put a handle wrap on it, antler tips and 6-8 coats of Tru-Oil.
