Tigerwood - Goncalo alves - muiracatiara

All the same. It's a South American timber, but nowhere near ipé. It's not as dense, not as (compression) strong. Goncalo alves requires a backing; I think bamboo may be too much for it, but hickory should probably complement it nicely.

Both "straight taper or even out to 2/3 of limb and taper to tips" will work. You need to match the tiller to the front profile, though. Ideally, the straight taper should be tillered out more circularly than the even out to 2/3 of limb and taper to tips, which should be more elliptical.

That's looking good :) You could indeed get a bit more bend right at the fades. But both midlimbs could use a bit more scraping as well. It's the area about 1/3 out of the handle (on both limbs) that you need to stay away from.

First thing you should do, is round them corners! The corners appear very sharp in that close up of the tip. Those need to be rounded to about the size of a pea. Especially on the back of the bow.

it's coming along good bubby. but I agree with DS, corners need to be rounded. can,t wait to see it progress thru the build.

thank's guy's, in the pics of the tip's I havn't bent the stick any, I always round all edges before it gets close to a string, and I always do my overlays before any bending because I seem to have trouble with the string slipping if I dont, Bub
