Today I was given a pair of white fur rabbit skins that were pulled from the animals last week, left flesh side out, filled with straw and air dried/cured in a shed. hopefully they'll become quivers.
My question is : as they were just dried - no salt, allum, or other method of tanning; should I rehydrate with antibacterial agent before egg tanning?
Rabbit skin is thin and at the moment, it's as good as rawhide but what suggestions can anyone offer for my next step? I'll take pic's and post them when I get home tomorrow - along with a pic I took of some slices of smoked venison sausage we sampled too... Pure heaven!!!
Thanks, Steve
