New osage, Ipe, bamboo quad lam.

Finally got a chance to finish this bow up.  Cut the osage two years ago and ground the lams last year.  Glued it all up last fall and just recently got a chance to tiller it out and shape it.  Its a bamboo backed, quad lam (boo, ipe, osage, ipe), R/D long bow, 64" ntn, 68# @ 28".  I laminated the tips with elk antler, osage, and whitetail deer antler.    She will really spit an arrow.

Before I ever laminated the tips that way, I weighed the materials before glueing on, and before shapeing, it was lighter than ipe bamboo, and osage of equal volume.  In other words, less dense than the limb tips would be if I had left another two inches of ipe,boo,and osage on the limb.  So I went ahead and put them on.  As far as hand shock.  Not much at all.  The bow is very smooth.

I like everything about this bow but that one tip overlay looks dangerously close to the limb tip. That would scare me!

Thanks.   I made sure the string follows the limb.  Even at full draw,  the string has 1/4 of the limb under it to support it.  I made sure not to support the string with just the tips.

Ive put countless arrows through her and think I have found my favorite bow.  Lots of power and shoots like a dream.  Ill be taking her out in the next two weeks for a hog hunt.  Ill keep you all posted.

Kent, you are the man.  I love your bows. 

Do you ever have issues tillering a bow like where you almost go thru one of your lams to get it right?  Or is it like a glass bow and almost tillered after glue up?
