twisted yew
« on: February 25, 2011, 11:27:20 pm »
here is a bow I have been working on for a while. this stave had lots of humps and bumps but no knots. it was a challenge working the uneven wood it made it hard to tiller, but I am happy with the results. the bow turned out to be 65" nock to nock, 60# @ 28" made in the american longbow style. 1 1/2" at fades tapering to 7/16" at tips. I flipped the tips some to keep from getting too much set. the tip overlays are ebony, and the handle is beaver tail, I finished the bow with tongue oil. I guess its the bumps that give us character ;D

Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?
