I'm Just getting into making my own bow strings and would like to know which serving tool is worth the mony or are they basically the same.
Is there a big difference in the serving string?
Any feedback is appriciated, Thanks......

I have several kinds and in my view, they are NOT the same. I perfer the kind in the picture attached. For me it gives better control on tension. As for serving, i use brownell twisted nylon.

The serve-tite shown in bev's post is good, but would like to say that I just got another recently from 3rivers and it just has a regular wing nut on it and doesn't hold tension as well. A trip to the hardware store fixed it.

I have made about a zillon strings in the last 20 years, well, maybe only a half zillion. I prefer the server shown in the picture above.

I use a "Little Spinner" srring server. I have bought cheap ones and was not satisfied. I also just used a fat rubber band around the serving thread spool and it worked OK. Adjustable tension is the trick to a good server.

Thanks for your input. Its nice to know that when you need info there's someone that can guide newbee's in the right direction.
I hate to buy something that doesn't work.
