I got a 1000 degree heat gun yesterday. If I want to use it to reflex limbs, so I need to put fat on the limbs first? Doesn't that screw up the finish (unless you use fat in the finish anyway).

I use crisco shortning, it seems to keep the wood from scorching, the last bow I did I used pam spray coating, it worked also.
If you wipe with acetone before you put a finish on it will remove the oil.
