On the Infantry bow I posted, N2HUNTIN mentioned using I-beams on the levers, so I thought I would see how that works. (Jeff is allways gettin somebody up to no good) The bow weighs 48# at 26" draw, it's 47" overal and 46" ntn. The main body is steam bent black walnut, with a hard maple belly lam and the center of the I-beam,( Ken 75 idea) and has spalted walnut for the bottom of the I-beam and grip belly lam. Flight testing with 550 grain arrows and full sized fletch was a low of 136 yards and the best was 155 yards. There is no hand shock.
I was going to I-beam the handle as well but did not because when I cord wrap the grip it would not be visible anyways. I glued the I beam maple on the limb recurves, then filed in the holes (skeletonized) and then glued on the lower plate to actually form the I-beam. The whole purpose of doing these last few bows was because I'm drawing some plans up for a mollegabet made out off strickly thin strips 1/8" to 1/4" including the grip and the levers (will post the drawings when they are done) So here this little bow, hope ya like it.
