Interesting info on Osage Trees
« on: October 01, 2010, 06:26:17 pm »
My in laws sent me this clipping from the AR Democrat Gazette. Was in there on 9/12/10. you cant get to it now with out paying a fee for the archive file.

It had some really interesting info on the bodark trees.
Hope y'all can read it on this pic. if not go to the photobucket site and it will allow you to zoom in.. or send me a PM with your email addy and I will send you a high res copy if interested.

it stated that the sage used to be all over... and that the large herbovores in the past like the mastodons would eat the 'apples' and spread them and that the range of the sage used to be much greater.
Other interesting info on our favorite tree as well.
Hope you can read it.

i wonder if im close to this "Sanders Site".  sounds nifty!

im wondering..  is there any difference in the wood between a male and female tree?  my boss has a bunch on his land.  two drop tons of apples every year, hes been talking of cutting them down!  big trees too.  anyone know any difference?
