New Black Locust Bow
« on: September 26, 2010, 12:47:05 pm »
Hello everyone, here is my latest bow. It is Black Locust, 70 inches long and draws an even 50 at 26 inches. It is 1 1/2 inches wide at the fades to mid limb and then tapers to 3/8 inch tips. I stained it with cherry stain and the handle is wrapped with linen that I stained with walnut stain. This is the longest bow I've made and I really like the way it shoots.

Another nice bow, Alan.

Couldn't help notice the thin growth rings in the picture. I've had great results out of thinner ringed locust lately.

Nice, clean, simple...  Lovely bow, man.  Love the finish and how it shows the grain and yeah, I was thinking the grain seemed quite thin too.

Love the simplicity. Your nocks really show how little wood is needed to hold the string. Great job.

Love it. Nice job Alan. I need to get out and make one out of the locust I got from you.
