Not trying to make light of your delimna but a large fire and a dead cow would probably be in order along with a tankard of mead.
If we can't help each other what is the point of being here?

I'm a chef by trade and catered a viking feast for friends. Traditional Viking food was pretty dismal so I cooked some Scandinavian classics. Potato/leek soup with smoked salmon, Swedish meatballs, roast pork ribs with loganberry/port glaze, elk sausage, baby potatoes with fresh herbs, red cabbage braised in red wine vinegar, brown sugar and apples.

If that does not help PM me Brother.

I've done a number of historic feasts, including Roman and Elizabethan for a local university.

I concur, what we know of Vikiing cuisine is not appealing. But, some general medieval dishes might do the trick, as there was a great deal of cross-cultural contact between the Norse and other peoples, and I imagine they ate much better than we think, and had access to a great many trade goods, and slaves who knew how to cook must have been put to work on some farms.

I can give you a list of historic cookbooks available in print, or send you some recipes, as well, just let me know.

Large amounts of preferably forcibly stolen meat and mead would be a good start.

Hence the purple uniform...it's the natural color of someone choking!

actually the purple comes from back in the day (a wednesday i believe it was  ;D )
when i was kid,late 60's - 70's,they played football like men.outdoors in the cold
when its 10 degrees and your playing in the snow, you turn purple
the made the uniforms to match so no one could tell when they were cold  :D
