Algonkian-Hickory Bow

I have made this bow a bunch of times but this one is just spectacular. It has been well shot in and is still retaining 1.5" of reflex when just unstrung and 2" if left for an hour. The original (As illustrated on pg 29 of The Encyclopedia of Native American Bows, Arrows and Quivers Hamm/Allely) had an elliptical cross section which is not optimal for a wood such as Hickory. I instead chose a square cross section and made the bow a bit wider. This bow is a great testament top what a white wood bow can achieve with a square cross section.

The heavy tips slow the bow a bit but its still plenty fast!

Wish you had shown the carved nock once it was strung.  The loop across the nock appears to be choking the man.  I think it was the bow from King Tut's tomb that had a Nubian head carved on the lower nock and a Syrian head carved on the upper limb and when pulled both were throttled, symbolizing the furthest north and south extent of the Egyptian Empire at the time. 

Big magic in that kinda symbolism.
