Tow Tone Take-Down Osage Selfbow
« on: July 04, 2010, 02:38:13 pm »
I had a take down bow I had on here a while back that had 2 different colored limbs. I was asking how to darken the one limb to match the other and most people said leave it like it is. So that is what I did. After putting several coats of Tru-Oil on  it did come a little closer in color. But it is kind of cool the way it turned out. It is 66" long. 1-1/2" wide at the fades to mid limb then tapers down to 7/16" wide at the string knocks. It is 48lbs. at 28". It shoots real nice and will be my major hunting bow for the 2010 season. I have a friend who made the fast flite string for it and I put beaver fur string silencers on it. First time for fast flite and string silencers for me. On the full draw picture I got it pulled to about 27". My left shoulder has been giving me trouble the last couple of weeks and I am not quite up to geting it all the way back. Father time is starting to show up. Dean

Very nice bow Dean. Tiller is great and the "coontail" with the white antler tips really sets it off.

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments. Del that Russian sub gets real expensive to keep in my yard  in the winter. I need to either make or get a case for this bow. I have been leaning towards one that will hold a half a dozen arrows also. Will have to look around for one. Thanks again evrybody. It was fun to make.
