Definitely a primitive bow which this site is all about. Very well made.  Looking forward to a full draw pic.

NICE  ;)  That is a tricky looking piece of wood to make into such a fine bow.  You did a great job on that.

Great looking character bow!  I might have to try Juniper one day.  I use mostly hardwoods like hickory BL and HHB all of which you need a cutting torch and a grinder!   ::)  Any who I like ur bow good work!

great looking bow. there are some scary looking knots on that but she is holding together. how does she shoot? juniper does really well with sinew backing, maybe try that next time, really seems to speed them up.

@Old bow: I try to get one posted next weekend ::) and thank you.
@s.c. hunter: yes, do you have some Osage stave's you don't need ;) ;)
@ricktrojanowski / AncientArcher76  : Thanks for the nice comment.
@juniper junkie : A sinew backed juniper bow is on the list for this year, the sinew is here , the juniper is waiting and the hideglue...smells ;)
It's shoot quiet good , not a speed monster but comfortable. By 10gr-pp around 152 - 154 fps thats not stunning but OK the knotty one

Thanks acker

Very good looking bow. I have some "cedar" staves that I was hoping to make a bow out of. You have inspired me to give it a try...

A question, is it best to chase a ring? I had to strip the bark down due to borer damage since they were not  peeled when green .

I dont know about cedar, but with juniper I dont worry about the rings in the sapwood, they are usually too tight to follow anyway.  is it western cedar you are working on? I got a stave out of a slash pile that was cut a couple of years ago, anxious to try it.

Hi JJ,
It's not western cedar, just what they call "cedar" here in Kansas but it's really juniper from what I've been told.
Yep, those are some tight old rings for sure. Guess I'll just scrape the back smooth and see how it goes....
Thanks for the input.
